Sorry folks, no photos.
Came across one today.
An all original 1897 12 gauge pump, with hammer.
Nice all original no issues, aged, patina'd metal and
no cracks.
Nice old gal not abused but weathered accordingly.
Take down button on front of mag tube.

General idea of current value?

Again, sorry for lack of photos, but what do the values run?

The ones that I've seen lately have run from $400-$600. That includes rough to good condition. I've seen beat to a pulp at near the 600 mark, but I'm fairly certain the seller was just looking for a sucker.

Without pictures I wouldn't value it anymore than 400.

Was it the trench gun style/model? I'm assuming we are talking about a Winchester 1897 12ga original shotgun. I know the trench gun style/model is more sought after and desirable.

Looky:
I've had quite a few of them over the years, the best one was a Black Diamond Trap gun albeit in very rough usable condition.
Current market starts around $300 for a parts gun (still shootable) up to collector price for the oddballs.

Thanks all.
It almost came home with me, but a young chap at the show just
had to have it.
Did some trading up for my buddy and ended up with a decent
over/under 12 gauge.
Cost me a goll dang Cooey for the up trade.
Sometimes a guy gartzs tuh dew what he needs fer hizz buds.......:wave
