1903 Springfield Barrel

Vulcan gun refinishing has a bunch of vintage and new production criterion barrels for sale.

AFAIK Nick only has the Criterion barrels, not the US GI replacement barrels. The Criterion barrels are well reported on for fit and accuracy, but they do require a M1903 fixed rear sight base to be installed. The last US GI Springfield barrels that were available at retail in Canada were from Century International some 20 yrs ago and these were NOS 03-A3 barrels, not M1903 barrels.

An 03-A3 barrel has the same thread specs as a M1903 barrel, but they are dimensionally different in the chamber area exterior and need to be worked over some to accept a M1903 fixed rear sight base (or the sight base needs to have the interior diameter enlarged to fit). They also require that the 03-A3 front sight band be replaced with an M1903 unit. All of the replacement 03-A3 barrels that I have seen were 2 groove Remingtons. There were no US GI replacement barrels made for the M1903 with 2 groove barrels; all M1903 replacement barrels had 4 groove rifling. I was fortunate to locate a NOS Rem 03-A3 barrel at our local show this past weekend. I'm now GTG on a couple more 03-A3 builds except for some receivers. I'll add a further shameless plug to locate a couple of M1903 receivers.
