Ok, as the title says. I'm trying to remove the front blade sight off 03 A3 & I know that I have to drift out the pin out from the left side, Knocking it out to the right side. My problem is the damm thing won't budge. Before I dimple the end hammering on it all night; I've stopped & sprayed some oil on it to see if it will free it up a bit before I have a go at it tomorrow night when I get home from work. I'm pretty sure the dishwasher trick won't work on this problem, but does anyone have anyother tricks up their sleeve?

It's likely peened in. Have a look at it through a magnifying glass, if you have one. Try giving it a tap on the other side.
Might be rusted in. A bit of heat might help if it's rusted in.
A dishwasher will do nothing.

Thanks, It was just about to go through the rinse cycle but it won't fit!:D It doesn't appear to be peened in, but I'll give it a second check tonight when I get home. I know a lot of these pins were tapered, but it didn't looked messed with until I got a hold of it. (no damage though). I was also reading that I may need heat to get it out. How much is required? The reason I ask is because I'm trying not damage the original finish. The sight has to come off though in order to put the correct furniture back on it.
