1903 value need help

I really want a 1903 springfield. I would like it to be a good shooter. I was looking at a reproduction 1903a3 at international shooting supply. It looked great! But it was on sale for 1499 plus tax. It seems a little expensive. Then I looked on EE, and there was not a lot of them out there, and some were close to 2000. I really want one, I like the idea of the reproduction because it will have a new barrel and will likely shoot really well. On the other hand, it's not an original! I just can't make a decision..... Any words of wisdom out there??????

All original is going to cost you upwards of $2K. Add on a mint bore and you're even looking as high as $2,500 easily. That's IF you can find an original with a mint bore lol Good luck.

You won't find a better deal than an actual Springfield 1903 mismatched with a mint bore rebarrel for $1000 Sir. That right there is about as good as she gets.

a couple of weeks ago under the hunting/sporting ee here on cgn, i picked up a 1903a3, remington, dated 1943 with a pristine barrel, also 4/43. the gun was immaculate, with the green/gray coating in perfect shape. don't think it had been fired as there were absolutely no wear marks on bolt, firing face, action, etc. gun came in aftermarket walnut fajen stock which was also in excellent shape, save for 1 very small ding. however, a couple of coats of blo later and the stock looked in showroom condition. apparently, it was from an estate. am planning to eventually pick up a c stock off ebay and restore the gun back to it's original configuration.

in the interim, have ordered a no drill s/k mount and will be putting a good scope on it and using the gun as my main hunting rifle. best part about the gun was that i picked it up for 330$ shipped!!!!
