1904 Marlin 1894

Folks, acquired a 1904 Marlin 1894 on the weekend. For 120 yrs old looks good overall. Some repairs to the stock. Anyone know where an original from this date may be found? Someone restained fore end and got stain on bolt/receiver housing. Anyone know a safe way to remove that without damaging the patina?
