Hello folks, I need some advice regarding some parts I need for a recently acquired Auto-5.

She showed up a little rough around the edges. I found a fella who can duplicate the stock and forearm but I am missing the buttplate and screws.
Also missing mainspring screw.
Does anyone in Canada specialize in Auto 5's?

There is no mag cut-off on this particular specimen, is this unusual for a 1906?

I appreciate any info regarding this Browning as she's my first Auto-5.

Elwood eps has a good supply of Belgian a5 parts.
I never get more than a smart ass reply from wgp, but at least I get something...
Also numrich in the us has quite a few parts.

Grande Prairie gun show had an older chap set up at the end of one of the rows.
He had a couple old A-5 butt plates.
Had the FN stamped in them.
Couldn't haggle him down any, so I left them there.
Too bad as they were in decent shape.

Just email WGP's with your list of priorities.
I ask for availability and prices.

Seems like a novel and simple way to get answers.............

You could also try posting a WTB on the EE.
Gun Broker is another place for used parts. I found a factory new, old stock for a Browning Superposed 20 gauge ($160.00) plus a factory new, old stock for a Browning double auto ($65.00). In fact, the stock for the double auto was listed on Gun Broker by Western Gun Parts in Edmonton.

Thanks for the replies gents,

Homestead has reproduction buttplates for these, not sure if they are absolutely correct as there seems to be many styles and I don't have original to compare. 16.50 US $

Wilcox Gun Works in Cherryville, B.C. quoted me a decent price for replacement walnut but requires old wood as early buttstock and forend are not the same as later ones.

Good evening,
Early Browning auto-5 is my passion, I have a good collection of them. I have bought stocks from Macon gunstock in Missouri and in Naturabuy in France. They are however quiet expensive. Finding a original buttplate and fore end for early A5 is virtually impossible this is why I am working on a project to reproduce them. The magazine cutoff was introduced in 1904 but it is not unusual to see 1905 and 1906 specimen without that device.
I have attached a picture of an original vulcanized rubber buttplate with is compartmented back. In 1909 the design of the buttplate was changed and the material use was horn. The fore end had a groove not running all along the way. In 1907 the groove was prolonged to the end of the fore end, see picture. If I can help it will be my pleasure. A picture of your antique Auto-5 will be appreciated.
