I have a 1909 argentine mauser carbine that I am looking to trade. What kind of value can I expect to get for this rifle in good condition.
thanks in advance
I see you never got an answer, so I'll give it a shot....
It depends what kind of Argentine carbine you have and when it was made. The Engineer Carbines are the most rare and the 1909 Cavalry Carbines were made from 1910 until 1959. The Cavalry Carbines run from $200 to $450, depending upon "matching" condition and when it was made. I've been offered an Engineer Carbine for about $750, but I passed as I wanted better condition as a collectible.
Does yours look like this?
1909 Argentine (7.65 x 53) Cavalry Carbine (Mfg in 1910 by Deutsche Waffen und Munitions Fabriken, Berlin) "All Matching"

If you wish, send me the serial number by PM (or email) and I'll look it up in Webster's for you. In my opinion, the best book on the market for Argentine rifles is Argentine Mauser Rifles 1871-1959 by Colin Webster ISBN: 0-7643-1868-3. It's beautifully written and has some of the best close up photography in a firearms reference book that I've ever seen.
Thanks BadgerDog
It looks like that exactly
With the mindset of our present govenment I have decided I am only going to be buying and not selling.....for the near future at least........
in anycase I will Pm you with the serial # I'd like to know a little more about this piece.
Merry Christmas to you and yours and all the best in the New Year.
Take Care
