I have an STI single stack custom build. I am thinking of a .22 kit.
Is there anything that I stay away from? I've seen great differences between kits in $$$. Are the STI one's so much superior that I should pay double the price? I've seen GSG ones, marked "made in Germany". Zee Germans traditionally make good products. Thoughs&opinions please.

thanks

Do you really want to go 1911 platform? GSG is priced good. But there might be some minor issues dropping the conversion into several brands. You might need a gunsmith to clean-up the kinks. It you want to shoot both calibers in a trip to the range, them it might be logical to get a rimfire pistol. There are many around priced between low $ 300s to close to $ 1000. Ruger 22/45 is reliable and well built, so as Browning Buckmark. Beretta Neos, Sig Mosquito and CZ Kadet has some good reviews too. GSG and Sig 1911 are identical pistols and are fun to shoot if you want to go 1911 platform. There are some minor issues on the GSG pistol but this is well taken care of by GSG thru Blueline, the Canadian Distributor. Check EE for used ones. Or better ask your LGS, they might have a few.

If you can afford it stay away froim the GSG kits. I would go for an STI or Kimber. All metal parts and much higher QC, IMHO. I bought a Kimber kit for 350$ and i love it. One of the best purchases i have ever made.

If you can "really" afford it, check out the Nighthawk .22 conversion kits. Kind of the creme de la creme so to speak lol. 1" at 50 yds guaranteed.
