1911 38 Super Slide to 9mm?

Have a line on a 1911 38 Super Slide, but have heard a 9mm bbl may drop in with minimal smithing, can any one confirm or deny?

Maybe it will, maybe it won't.

A lot of it depends on the various components involved.

Who's the slide mfg'er; 9mm barrel mfg'er...... etc.....

Sure it will drop in. 38Super & 9mm barrels are almost identical. Its the chamber length that is different.

I have a Colt 38 Super and a factory Colt barrel dropped right in no problem.No more searching for that pesky 38 Super brass.

Mags might behave differently regarding the Slide Stop. 38 Super ones seem to do fine with a 45 SS and I have shot a lot of 9mm through 38 mags.

Some 9mm barrels are skinny (Norinco) and need specific bushings.

Now that I think about it Norinco 9mm mags are the ones not working with 45 Slide Stops.
