I am pretty pleased with my NP-29.
At this point, I have put on hogue grips and that's it.
But the mag is a pain to load in cold weather.
Being new to 1911's, I need to find better magazines that are in stock and don't cost a fortune. I don't mind used ones either.
Any recommendations?

I was going to order a few cheaper mecgars, but ended up ordering a few wilsons from a new cgn sponsor, and wow are these things well built....

I may have just gotten a bad couple but I never had any luck with mecgar. Its good to see some canadian dealers getting in some quallity kit. Was this CTCS? ( Shameless plug for the new guy)
I forgot to mention Wilson mags in my first post, they are awsome as well.

Yes it was ctcs...

My sit came with metalforms, I guessed the mergers would be similar? But I've never used them... But glad I ended up with the wilsons

Larry, I noticed that at least one of my stockers has a burr or something that makes it stick part way through reloading. If your mags are the same then you may want to try what I'm going to do. And that's to remove the follower and spring and lightly run a fine stone over the edges and corners of the follower. In attion I'm going to fold some fine wetordry 600 paper over a stick and run it up and down the inside of the shell to remove any burrs from the sighting holes. By the time I've done this and lightly oiled all the surfaces I'm hoping that they'll load up like a fresh caught fish sliding through my hands.... :D

Mind you we still need some additional mags. And like you I'm noting the suggestions here.
