I have the opportunity to buy a 1911 A1 .45 in very good condition(NRA) . It is a bullseye pistol apparently set up by a recognized pistolsmith in the USA for target shooting. It uses all USGI parts (no commercial parts at all except for the sights) and has been tightened, smoothed,trigger job etc. etc. Sights have been replaced with target front blade and adjustable rear. Target grips are on the gun but the USGI grips are included along with 4 mags. The owner put a lot of money into this gun a number of years ago and now wants $900 or so for it. I NEED ADVICE about the value of this pistol.Please let me know what you think.

I wouldn't pay $900 for it. USGI 1911A1's run about $500-$600 in as-issued, unaltered condition. Any mods to it decrease the collectability value of it. There are alot of commercial options for $900 that would be a better choice if you are looking for a shooter and are willing to spend that kind of money.
