What brand of extractors are the best for my series 80 ? Wilson heavy duty ? are other brands just as good ?
What does a titanium firing pin do different than a regular one ?
will it hit the primer faster and harder ? i am having light primer hits

Standard is OK, but the HD ones maybe better.

The titanium pins give a faster lock time, but also wear out a lot faster too. I read that Leatham changes his out every 1500rds.

I have run a series 80 for well over 100000 rounds with the factory parts, no problem, If I were to change it , probably a Wilson or any other known aftermarket would do. I see no real advantage to brand as long as they are well known.

Costs a lot more and weighs less, meaning you have to increase the spring to get the same hit on the primer

Remember the firing pin spring, light primer hits are results of a lack of force , either too light a pin or not enough spring

I imagine you mean the mainspring.

As for extractors, there really aren't any terrible aftermarket extractors, but they virtually all need to be tuned. The Aftec is expensive, but has a good reputation and is drop in in most slides.

Titanium firing pins and hammers are an advantage to so few people, and a maintainence and replacement problem, that I can't recommend them.

If you are having light primer hits, you may also want to check your ammo to ensure your primers are fully seated. If your brass is old, it might be worth your time to clean the primer pockets.

I know this sounds unlikely, but seriously, try to finda Norinco extractor. They are made of spring steel and are virtually indestructible. All I have seen were drop-in on pretty much any slide too!

I know it's weird, but I swear by them.

As for firing pin, you need a stiffer MAINSPRING. The firing pin spring is just there to retract the pin back into the slide after each shot so you don't slamfire the next round as you strip it out of the mag.

I am not sure that a mil spec norinco extractor will fit my series 80 .I will go with wilson .I love there mags . I have been ordering most of my brownells items from wolverene he gets a large dealer discount and it is cheaper than me buying direct from brownells .

The standard extractor will fit any slide. The 80's series firing pin safetys won't fit at the same time.

I'm not advising you to remove them, or to pull the twin levers out of the frame and replace it with a shim, also available from Brownell's.
I'm not suggesting that it will likely reduce your trigger weight and improve the feel. After all, we all know how many people have been killed or maimed by dropping a 1911 directly on it's muzzle on a surface hard enough to cause the firing pin to strike the primer under it's own inertia with enough force to discharge the round.

If it saves just one life.....

Yes I do. Thankyou, have been up for 3 days straight and it shows

Been there. The last flu bout with the kids had me sleeping 2-3 hours a day for a week. Thank g-d I don't have to talk to many people on the evening shift.

I think that it is wilson that made the bulletproof parts and a couple of the locals used them with great results

Be advised that Wilson's has a heavy duty line of parts that are made from FORDGINGS, like Norinco's. They also have a cheaper line of parts to compete with their competitors, and virtually all of these parts are MIMed.

Kimbers, SIG'S and virtually everyones 1911's , other than Norinco and possibly Springfield Armory, are full of mim' ed parts. Even Wilson's cheaper custom guns use their mim ed parts. If you want 100% fordged parts on your gun from wilson, it gets very expensive.
