1911 approved for duty carry by LAPD

I heard the Rangers museum in Waco, Texas is worth the detour if you're in Texas. Lots of nice firearms on display.

I was at the Texas Rangers Museum in Waco two years ago. If you get a chance, this is a must visit. They have an incredible number of the firearms that were actually used by some of the most famous Rangers like Frank Hamer.

I have never seen so many 1911's and so many ornately engraved guns.

However, I agree with NAA, I would carry a Glock 22!

There are so many variables to consider "if" you could choose your duty pistol. Do you base your decision on mag capacity or penetration of the round. Size of the frame or stopping power?
I love 45s but the .357 sig would be a definite contender. Do you carry 36 x .357s or 51 x 9mm rounds?

I would probably go with the HK P2000 in .357 sig. But I would have to do some research.

Visiting the Texas Ranger Museum is on my "bucket list" for sure.....

NAA.

I would take a Colt out of the 1911s listed.

However having lived there I have to say that L.A. is a place where, LEO or not, I would prefer to have a high capacity pistol due to the greater than average likelyhood of running into determined multiple miscreants.

Still, it's nice to see they're got the option, and it well might provide some bonus intimidation/deterrance value.
