I have just got a Randall 45 Combat. First trip to the range revealed problems with gun. Most times once fired the hammer follows slide to half #### position. resulting in needing to #### hammer manually to fire new chambered round. (mag feeds well)

Then with only 3 rounds in mag I experienced full auto mode (quite a rush) good thing I only put 3 rounds in.

Is this an expensive repair? I read somewhere it most likely has a trigger sear problem..

This is my first 1911
I bought it because I know of the Randall history and how few of them were made. I thought these guns were indestructable. This I was told might have been the result of someone dry fired with slide off frame. Gun show purchase fever got me.

I am going to get if fixed but need to here what it might need.

Hey it's a Randall they are always worth fixing.

Don't Dial 911 When you can Slide 1911

Yep, your sear is damaged or somebody tried to do a trigger job without knowing how. Replace the sear. It may need to be fitted though.

It may not be the sear, I have seen this condition cased by a weak sear/trigger return spring. This is the multi-fingered flat spring that serves 3 purposes, 1) trigger return, 2) sear spring and 3)grip safety spring. It is located under the grip safety and retained by the mainspring housing. I would start by gently tweaking the finger that rides on the sear so it has more tension. Re-assemble load with 1 round and fire and watch for the hammer following. If this doesn't work then it is definitely a sear/hammer engagement problem.
