1911 Carbine kit - Recover 20/11

Well, this looks interesting. Shipping seems a bit high, but since I haven't found a .45 ACP carbine I like, I'll give it a try.

Might have an application for PCC Multigun, being able to bring a couple of 1911s and share magazines.

Looking more closely at the Marstar listings, it seems the upper rail (optic mount) add-on is specific to the Glock braces, and not available for the 1911 or the S&W M&P models. Would be nice to have a 1911 brace with all the pieces.

Checking Recover Tactical's website, it says it's compatible with the 20/11 Brace.

Found it! It says the 20/20 upper rail is compatible with the 20/11 etc, while the 20/21 upper rail is unique to the 20/21 stabilizer. And Marstar has both of those available so we're good so long as we pick the right one.

First impressions (I have not taken this to the range yet).

Installation is fairly simple. Fit to the pistol is good. Slide stop, thumb and grip safety function is not impeded. For me, I find the stock a bit short, but useable. Also, the stock prevents my right hand from obtaining as high a grip on the pistol as I prefer, again useable, but not ideal. Perhaps others will not have the same issue.

If you're going to mount an optic, using the optional mount, you'll want the cheek riser also. The problem with the cheek riser though is, it does not allow the stock to be locked in the folded position, I'll probably try to figure out a work-around, as I find it defeats the purpose of having a folding stock.

Overall, it's not a bad toy, but I won't be buying a second one for a different model pistol.

"I shoot old school 1911's because they are a proven, classic design from JMB - one of the OG gunmakers. It is ergonomically perfect. Putting a rail, optics, or a firing pin block on it is HERESY! Also, I want it to be a rifle."
