I've searched the site and couldn't really find anything so I thought I would ask.
What are you guys using to clean your 1911's?
Is there a gun care kit I should buy or should i just go buy individual pieces? ie. bore brush, t-handle, patches, etc...

BTW I found this link while searching and thought it was a great link for newbs like myself.

Forget the kits. Buy individual pieces. Dewey makes good stuff. Brownells carries Dewey.

Grab a .45 kit at your local gunshop (outers) .40/.45 kit. Also, get two toothbrushes (1 for nitro solvent / 1 for oil), patches, clean rag, dirty rag, Butches Bore Shine (for barrel only) oil, etc.

I use the tooth brush, dip into the nitro solvent and scub the slide by the muzzle, breech, under the slide by firing pin channel, barrel/feedramp, lower fram by the dust cover to remove the GSR.

Wipe everything down with dirty rag, then oil everything, wipe dry with clean rag, re-oil key parts (rails, barrel locking lugs, barrel near bushing, etc)

PRESTO :)
