1911 Commander type 9mm?

When Ruger introduced these they were around $650. For Ruger quality that's fair. They are almost double that now, which is INSANE for Ruger quality.
You can get much better 1911's for the price of a Ruger.

Well they are around $900... its getting up there though I agree.

I like the Colt one... Tenda had it for a grand which I think I could stomach, although traditional I have never been into firearms crossing the $1000 mark. They are sold out now but next time they come in and go on sale I will likely take the plunge.

I've handled nearly a dozen SAMs - they are an incredible deal for the price, the fitting is very good to excellent on all the ones I've seen.

Had this one out on the weekend....45 Thunderbolt, nice and tight but also ran flawless. I think I paid $475 for the 9mm Commander, same for the .40cal Omega, and $515 for the Thunderbolt. This was a few years ago, prices are higher now.

After reading some of the comments here, I think i will revise my recommendation....

I'd say, get a SAM commander in 9mm, shoot the hell out of it and after you have a thousand or so rounds through it, if you still love the platform but want a little more oomph, send it off to Black Box Customs or somewhere similar for some front strap texturing, a trigger undercut and a cera-coating in your preferred choice of colour. (maybe even a little slide customization if you like) Slap a set of VZ grips (of your choosing; there are literally dozens of different options) on it and you have a very functional and one of a kind 9mm commander!

Interesting, have you used their services before?

Maybe gonna wait for the Christmas / Boxing day sales and make some purchases lol.

You might do better to buy at the Black Friday sales many CGN sponsors have at American Thanksgiving. They seem to have the best prices of the year.
