Thinking of getting 40s&w 1911, trojan has been on my mind for long time but Dlask seams to be better choice it is hand fitted by a gunsmith it seams better gun, theoreticly.
Which is truely better?

Thanx.

I've heard nothing but great praises about Dlask 1911's.

As you touched on, you are comparing a hand fitted gun to a mass produced gun.
There was a thread about Joe's pistols on here a while ago, one member who owns a number of nice 1911's, rated it up there with US custom shops.
I noticed that same member recently parted with a BNIB Wilson Combat and last I checked he still had a BNIB custom shop Kimber for sale in the same post. I bought another one of his 1911's a short time ago and during correspondence I could tell he really knows 1911's.
Other members concured on the quality of Joe's workmanship and hand fitting.

My next 1911 is going to be built by Joe.

That's all I can offer, I'm sure others will chime in.

I don't see many Dlasks, but I see a ton of Trojans. I've got around 8K thru mine and I'm very happy. Trojans are great value. All the features that I'd choose in a custom pistol, right out of the box.

what's the price break down between them? is it apples to apples? Trojan does build a nice pistol, and tend to stand by their product. I've seen some good work from dlask, but don't know enough about them or pricing of their product to comment on quality, reliability or service backing.

I have never had a Dlask but own a few other 1911s. The Trojan is one of them. All I can offer here is what I know about my Trojan and some other Trojans I have seen out there. They are of great quality and a pleasure to shoot. I have never heard anyone complain about their Trojan but have heard in person or read online about countless numbers of happy Trojan owners.

It's almost as reliable as my Glocks. That's a big statement as no 1911s are as reliable as Glocks. cou:

Yup. My .40 1911 is pretty bloody finicky. I think I've finally got it working straight. But, Joe stands by his products 100%. He'll work with you until you're running happy.

STI's are great factory 1911s. They are great out of the box and easy to drop in parts as you need to.

Dlask are fantastic semi-custom 1911s. They both cost very similar, but with the Dlask you can throw in little custom touches that fit you better for a great cost. You can chose your sights, trigger, hammer, thumb safeties, magwell, checkering, etc. And, you'll get local warranty service that's pretty great. Make sure you ask for Joe to make it for you. The biggest downside, in my opinion, would be the wait. It could take about a month or two.

So, it kind of depends on what you're looking for.
