IS there some place where you can buy frames to build your own guns? Is there any advantage to this route? The reason I'm asking is because I saw that STI has some for sale on their website, but I assume it's only for the States.

The frame IS the gun in most cases, not a replaceable part like the slide or barrel, so buying one is going to be the same as buying a gun as I understand it. With the resultant paperwork and problems.

custom dlask frames are sweet too and in b.c. canada. They did stock caspian as well as thier own house frames, and yes, restricted pal required. unless you are buying one of thier 80% house frames, no liscence required but will need to be machined by a properly liscenced individual and registered upon completion. i'm not gonna post a link but thier site is easy enough to find.

At one point in time, it was a smart move to buy a bare frame, and finish it with the custom parts you REALLY wanted. It made more sence than buying a gun only to toss half the factory parts into the drawer.

Now, the factory STI or Kimber guns are every bit as good as the old custom, and cheaper to boot.

I ordered mine from Gunnar at Armco, and had a trigger job done in the process. My cost was half of what my Caspian Race Ready cost 8 years before.
