1911 front sight replacement

Assuming for starters that the Ruger uses a dovetail front sight then you use the brass pin punch and a hammer and remove it by drifting the left side of the sight so it exits to the right. To install the new one start it from the right side and drift it towards the left and stop when it's centered.

Just about every sight I've had to swap needed some slight trick or two to seat correctly. Some are too loose and others too tight. So be prepared to deal with this. So far the only ones I've found that slip in just right are original replacements from the OEM.
