Hey there,

Is there not a place in Canada that stocks a wide variety of 1911 grips? I've checked all the big names but haven't found any that have any selection :( Im hoping its my poor detective skills. I really want to avoid ordering for the States just to avoid any potential headache. I think i want wood grips but I've seen so many nice custom ones available that I'd like to shop around and would like to do so in Canadian companies. Anybody out there find a good canadian supplier of grips? Thanks for looking and your help.

P.S. I know Marstar has some. I acutally like a few they have. There must be somebosy out there that carries a wider selection though.

I can't remember his user name right now but there is a member that makes smooth hardwood grips on the board.

I bought a couple and they looked pretty good. They were much cheaper than retail grips as well.

that's awsome. If you can remember his name or can find him in some past pm's of yours. Please pm me with the info. :D

I was hoping to browse through a canadian owned site and buy some grips. But if there isn't a place available, posting in the EE is the next route i was going to take.

I've had good luck ordering Ahrends grips (http://ahrendsgripsusa.com) in from the States for my revolvers, and my father has ordered their 1911 grips as well. I was a little leery as well at first ordering from the States but I've had no issues (other than the $5 "handling fee" than Canada Post imposes ). I deal with one of their dealers, D & J Gun Repair from Virginia (http://stores.ebay.com/D-J-Gun-Repair), and it usually only takes a couple of weeks from order to receipt. I haven't seen their 1911 grips in person but their revolver grips are beautiful.

Brownells will still ship grips.

While you like wood -- I cant stress the Gunner Grips enough from either Simmonich or Strider knives (I prefer to order from Simmonich - since they where the original - Strider just chipped in to help with demand when Christines dad died)

Thanks for all your help guys! For the time being, just to get be by seeing my plastic grips cracked, i bought a pair of wood grips with diamond checkering from Marstar at a really good price. Can't complain. However I am still in the market for something a little more stylish. Im really interested in fidning someone who makes custom wood grips like Wobbles mentioned. I have a Beretta 1934 that I would really love to get wood grips for. I think it would look really nice with some rich dark colored wood. :) If anybody knows somebody who does this kind of work please let me know. Thanks again for all your help.

It was Christines husband ( Rob Simonich), who died in a traffic accident coming home from hunting trip.

A while back ProLine Shooters here in Calgary had a bunch of Ajax grips for 1911's, smooth and checkered, light and dark wood (and some fake ivory and pearl :p ). I picked up some nice walnut ones for my Norinco. They've probably still got some.

I don't think so, but if you google "proline shooters II" you can find the phone number etc. (not sure if I can post it here...;))

+1 on the Gunner Grips. I have both VZ Gator Backs and Siminoch Gunners and I'll take the GGs any day over the VZs.

I haven't seen a Canadian source for them, but you shouldn't have any problems ordering them from the US.
