1911 holster

What type of full size 1911? SIG 1911s may not fit a regular 1911 holster.
Kydex or leather?
Range carry or competition use?

Either way, I will avoid generic one size fit none corduroy/synthetic types as well as Blackhawk Serpa and Fobus style finger release models.

Most ranges will not allow them but I find the most practical holster for a 1911 is the M7 tanker holster.

I ATC'd my NP29 in mine a couple of times.

I think the Major General on the left is Lucian Truscott.

“Truscott was one of the really tough generals,” soldier-cartoonist Bill Mauldin of the 45th Infantry Division once wrote. “He could have eaten a ham like Patton for breakfast any morning and picked his teeth with the man’s pearl-handled pistols.” Not one merely to act the part of commander, Mauldin remembered, “Truscott spent half his time at the front—the real front—with nobody in attendance but a nervous Jeep driver and a worried aide.”

It also fits many of my other pistols eg. GLOCK 17, TT33, S&W 3914, Beretta 71, Astra Constable.

Yeah, the shoulder rig is a definite no go at any public range. Great for wilderness carry though.

For a cheaper Kydex option, look at Bladetech or Comp Tac. Make sure you have a proper belt with the proper width that matches your holster or your gun will slide around and/or tip.

Here’s a link to a site sponsor that just showed up.

I really like my uncle mike's tactical kydex, about 30.oo
Nor. 1911 full size with a red dot .
Simple, screw adj for retention, no finger latch to mess up.
Mind you that is just range plinking.
Out in the bush, I would go leather with a strap
