I just picked up a 1911 Commander and am looking for a holster. I found a couple and there are some that are made for the C model. Is there any need for that one specifically or would a regular 1911 work???

Holster for a regular government length [5" barrel] 1911 should work for the commander.

There are plenty of holsters made specifically for the Commander length 1911. Id there a particular style that you are looking for? I happen to have a Commander sized Minotaur Gladiator that I'm planning on listing in the EE tonight if you're interested.

Otherwise, pretty much any holster manufacturer will have holsters in their line-up that are made to fit a 1911 Commander.

A regular 1911 holster will work and IMO, thats the model to get (whichever mfg. suits you). This way if you ever decide to get the gov't 5" version, no add'l holster needed. Happy shooting!!!!!

The Uncle Mikes paddle holster is about the cheapest you can get that is IDPA leagal. There is also Tac-Pro in Richmond Hill, they make great Kydex holsters for a very fair price. Question, why do you prefer Kydex to Leather?

Ignorance on my part more than likely. I use a BlackHawk Serpa with my 226 and just had it in my head that that's what I needed. On second thought, I've kinda warmed up the the idea of a leather holster. After listening to you all, I've started to like the idea.

If you like the idea of leather, check out Milt Sparks holsters... The best of the best. You actually have to order a Milt Sparks about 6 months ahead. Their waiting list is that long! But their leather holsters are second to none!

It never ceases to amaze me when a person spends good money for a handgun and then goes cheap on the holster. I am sure you can find a nice used quality leather holster at bargain price on EBay, I would haunt EBay until I found a holster I liked.

I have always been partial to Milt Sparks Holsters, I have owned a few of them over the years, but my favourite is the 60TK, I will be ordering another one as soon as his list opens up in March
