So i just recently got my first 1911, a ruger sr1911! Pretty nice looking gun. I'm looking for advice on good magazines for it. I heard wilson combat are the best, but I've never come across any online anywhere. Appreciate any advice you guys could give me.

Kimber Tac Pro mags are in my opinion one of the best values around. The mags have replaceable steel base plates and come with a selection of rubber bumpers for the bases. All for $35ea

I have some Wilson, McCormick and no-name mags, as well as the McCormick conversion kits for a standard mag. I guess my guns aren't all that picky, because they all work well.

Chip McCormick for me too. I bought a bunch from a nice guy here on the equipment exchange and they are great. I mostly only use the extended 10 rnd mags.

Wilson Combat ETM 500.
The absolute best 1911 mags on the planet followed closely by the Chip McCormick CMC Mags and the Wilson Combat 47D.

Brownells sometimes has a sale on 3 or 4 packs of the the ETM 500's.

How far out do the 10 round mags extend from the bottom of the gun?

Google is your friend :)

Not my pic... but I sure did wish it was.
