who sells them? are tho Rinco ones good enough?
are the same brands that give a name to the 45s the leading crowd for the 9mm mags?

On my NP29 and my wife's Springfield 1911 9mm, we've had success with these brands:

* Metalform
* MecGar
* Pachmayr (made by MecGar, I swear)
* Colt factory brand

The Norinco mags ? I've always put them aside and left them for the eventual re-sale of the 9mm. No experience here....

I bought about 5 MecGar 9mm magazines from www.p-d-ent.com one of our CGN sponsors. Great service.... that was last year, I think.

Truth be told, I'm a MecGar snob.... LOL

Cheers,
Barney

Funny everyone says how bad they are, but I don't have problems with my norinco mags, I do have problems with one of my Sig mags not holding the action open.

I had great results with the MecGar 9mm mags and they stand behind their product.

The Norinco mags are not quite junk but not far from it. I would not buy anymore of those.

I also think the Pachmayr mags are made by MecGar.

Thank you for the info.... I have one more....
I keep hearing that single stack 9mm are more reliable than double stack ones. Is it true, or just another myth?

Canada-wise, the difference is one round in mag. capacity and maybe the magazine loading process is more tedious.... is it worth it?

The NP30 has a slight drawback and that is the mags that come with it and the mags that fit that pistol are Norinco (proprietary?) made. No other mfg'er seems to have a magazine that fits the NP30 double stack 9mm reliably (none that I know of).

At least with the NP29, all the 1911 goodies (aftermarket) FIT the NP29. I love it. And that's why I've got an NP29 (still). It's one of those little known secrets that the Norinco bashers don't know about. And let's not tell 'em. Let 'em keep spending thousands of dollars of high zoot, modern and tupperware bangsticks. yuk yuk yuk

Enjoy the addiction. Hey, isn't the slowboat from China here with some NP29's ? Like I tell prospective M305 / M14 buyers, "Don't buy ONE, Buy TWO of them!!"

Cheers,
Barney

I don't know if the single stack is more reliable or not. My single stack 1911 has been very reliable. What I do know is that the single stack just seems to feel better in my hand. And as you mentioned the difference is one round. To remedy the one less round, for my Colt .38Super mags that are 9 rounders, I bought Wilson 10 round conversion kits. The Wilson kits seem to work well with no problems so far. However the followers from the Wilson kits will NOT work in Mec Gar mags.

Called TSER to ask about .45ACP mags and they also told me they have lots of 9mm, .40S&W and 10mm 1911 style mags in stock.

Double stack based 1911's tend to have fewer mag related feed problems than single stack ones. This is true.

Notice I said "tend". There are exceptions and no mag likes to have its feedlips banged/dented. Single stack mags tend to be less rigid and may also suffer more detrimental changes in body dimension from being dropped. Or stepped on.
