Ok , it's time of the year to grill the poor chicken again cou: .

Basically, I don't know much about the above two other than one is more accurate than a glock and the other is badder than what Dirty Harry held.

But the main question.
What's the best 1911 to buy ( coming from a Glock 21 guy )
In Revs: S&W 460 or S&W 500?

Any personal opinions welcome!

Tanks!

460 Smith!!!!

People will drone on about ammo costs.......last I checked, you only live once!

I went with the .500 Smith over the .460 because a 50cal is just bada$$...

As for best value the debate is between Norinco for very budget conscious to good quality American made like the Ruger SR1911 and Remington R1 /R1s

Thanks guys, so money is not an issue if I don't wanna compromise over quality, but won't pay like 3K for a pistol ( would rather buy an ACR or a Tar21 then :D ). So....

I'd go for a 500 S&W but don't know why the hell no one is able to keep them in stock or is the production halted or what?

1911, know any good retailers selling a variety in ontario so I can see the difference?

Thanks

It's the next big thing right now, once you shoot one it will put a smile on your face and introduce you to a lot of new people. Some stores don't like holding onto something with a retail around $1,500...

I special ordered mine from Wanstalls

1911 or 460. If money is not an issue, the Wilson Combat is a very nice gun. But you could also enjoy shooting a Norc 1911 for cheap.

The 460 is another story. Not the cheapest gun to buy or feed. Fired 5 rounds out of 1 (5") a few days ago. WOW! You only live once, enjoy yourself. That gun is fun. Shot 460 rounds out of it, 260 grain. Felt less kick than a S&W 500. What a hoot. The smile on your face will last all day. Whatever you choose, it is a gun, that you get to shoot.

If I had a choice, I would get the 460. You may have already shot a 1911, great guns to shoot as well. You could simply get both, that way you do not have to make a decision!

Why do you have to choose??? Get both! I did and don't regret the inability to make a decision between a 460V and a 500. You will get more of a muzzle flash from the 460, but the 500 in a commanding hand cannon. Be prepared to talk to a lot of people at the range.

Well that's the idea! Just got a KRISS VECTOR in 45ACP, so now might try a 500 magnum, prolly S&W. If anyone selling it reads this, Hit me up ( metaphorically speaking cou: )

I went with the S&W 460 5" and haven't looked back since! The flame that comes out draws a crowd unlike I've ever seen! I promised myself that I'll never get rid of it! :)

I have all three of the guns you are talking about. In fact I have three 1911's I shoot them far more then the 460 or the 500 as they are much cheaper and nicer to shoot. I reload so I am not worried about the cost of amm. As other people here have stated when you bring a 460 or a 500 to the range you meet lots of other people.

The one thing to remember is the 460 has the potential to do a lot of damage at the muzzel end of it and the 500 can do damge at both ends.

Graydog

@Graydog, feel ya. That's why I was going for 500 as that's the baddest dog in the market. If they decide to come out with a 1 inch cartridge, I'll be the first to book it :D. Seems 500 are as rare as diamonds, no one has them in stock, guess will have to go with 460s then.

Not really in the same class. Kind of a dumb comparison. Both are completly different. Kind of like....should i buy a dodge ram or a ferrari?

or maybe if you just keep off this thread and be happy you never read the original Opening post, instead just wanted to reply with your "expert advice" :HR:. To the rest, thanks guys, guess it's both for me :D , maybe if I find a 500, I'll get it too .
