1911 Moose Grips

My first attempt at grips, made from the 'main palm' of the antler, from a moose my father shot. I had also used that moose antler to make pens and a couple of reel seat for fly rods, I finished those with a linseed oil and crazy glue finish but opted for Ballistol for the grips.

This the is the crimson Trace model, had to use my wife's grips from her SR1911 for the pattern. The next set will be for her gun, I suspect they will be made from purple heart, and probably 'Muddy Girl' camo dipped :)

Very nice, it certainly adds character.

Did you puzzle out the curves to get out a straight slab or did you straighten out curved sections? Either way it is a challenge.
( I managed to use the word "out" three times in the same sentence. Clever.)
