1911 parts and accessories question

Noob question.
If i wanted to get a norc 1911 and upgrade it wilson combat parts and accessories from the US is it going to be a big problem with shipping it across the border. Mainly hammer,trigger and random set of grips. Its my first 1911 and i am contemplating building a nice norc...if shipping those parts are too much of a pita then i'll probally buy the sig spartan. Cheers for the help guys.
 
What does the cost have to do with it?

And i know that finish has me sold so i'll probably end up with both (sig/norc)
 
just lifted this off brownells site....don't know why the hundred dollars, suspect its a us gov. reg.

There are a number of items which Brownells sells which need US State Department approval and an export license before they can be shipped out of the country. The regulations are complex and constantly changing but our staff is here to help you understand what is needed and will gladly work with you to correctly accomplish the task.

Generally speaking, items which usually need a license are:
•Frames
•Receivers
•Barrels
•Barrel Liners
•Various other gun parts such as triggers, sears, ejectors, magazine tubes, scopes, and other items if the ordered amount is over $100.00 US.
 
I've had great success buying and then installing Wilson Combat goodies on my Norc 1911 pistols. Fantastic fitting process (not much), with great fun and learning. Hope it works for you, too!

That $100 limit is a USA regulation thing. We gotta work with what we've got! :wave:

Blame ITAR for all this crap. Anyways be careful, there are a few manufacturers that haven't filed their ITAR paperwork so even if it costs 11 bucks, you can't order it off Brownells. They let you order initially but then cancel the entire order, pretty annoying. ISMI, Smith&Alexander are two such brands.

OP, where are you located? You might be lucky enough to live in a town with a gunshop that actually stocks some 1911 parts...

If not, you can get all the parts you need from Brownells. Call in your order to be sure they will ship the particular items you want, keep your orders under $100 in value, and select "Priority" as your shipping method. Otherwise, shipping costs increase dramatically.

Check out VZ Grips, tried and true, amazing selection (they have an amazon.ca site with a smaller selection, but you save on shipping), you get what you pay for.
