Start with a Colt series 70?

I did some minor mods to mine and got the look I wanted... Okay, basically a blued wide spur hammer and nub thumb safety

The safety dropped right in, though.

As did hammer and sear, notwithstanding the requisite stoning that has ought to do with fit to the frame.

There are a couple of Rock Island Armory 1911s floating on the EE at decent prices right now. I might have to see about one of those and report back. If it looks like it'll be trouble, I can always throw it back up on the EE lol

That is just like the Ruger 10/22 crowd, I have done it , but then usally bought something else to replace it with.
Have one on the way now.

What's the cost benefit from buying a $500 gun and throwing every part you can at it compared to just buying a higher end nighthawk or ed brown or whatever?

Couple weeks ago I got a higher end RIA 5 " and I liked it , not crazy about the park. finish, I like bright blue ( think colt)
But a few guys shot it and liked it, very tight good, not great trigger ,
I just picked up a SAM Titan, now that is different, shoots nice, would ne nice withy a full size comp on the bull barrel sticking out the end.
These have a 3 inch barrel down south.
