Hi all, I'm new with 1911 pistols I replaces the mainspring housing becuase I didn't like the plastic one. So I bought the dlask chain link housing I have made sure the spring and take down pins are all in the right spot. The trouble I'm having now is I can't get the hammer to #### either by hand or racking the slide. I'm getting frustrated I have now even tried to replace the plastic housing and still the same problem, I realy don't know what to do from here any help would be great

Make sure that the hammer strut is properly seated and in contact with the main spring cap when you slide in the main spring housing to the frame.

yeah the hammer strut fits into the mainspring housing cup, i can feel the spring tension on the hammer but the hammer simply will not click into the cocked position, what am i missing?

So that hammer goes back but doesn't stay yeah? Sounds like you may have reassembled it wrong, did you fully strip the frame while installing the new housing? Probably sear spring position?

Gonna clarify my first post, I'm no expert but I've taken down mine a fair few times also messed up a fair few times. I'm not sure if you can see it by simply sliding the MSH down can't remember off the top of my head. But I believe it's that 3 finger springamajigger (technical term) the first (left?) finger has to go behind the sear that funny S shape dealy the pressure from the springy thing pushes the bottom of the S forward which pushes the top of the S backwards catching the hammer. Lmk if this helps.

I had a similar problem when I changed a mainspring. the three leaf spring was installed wrong and the hammer would not ####, its been a while so I don't remember the details but there was a technique involved installing that spring which once you know becomes easy.

That video helped me a lot! I was having some trouble reassembling things after a simple MSH change. Just one little detail about where the tabs of the sear spring go :)
