Sorry for my ignorance but...(for Colt 1911 and clones)

1. What is the advantage of a "match" or "competition" hammer?
2. What is the advantage of a lightweight trigger?
3. There are many replacement barrels available, if you change the barrel, will the headspace need to be adjusted?
4. How can you tell if a slide or frame is still serviceable? I mean, does the slide moving back and forth cause enough wear to eventually ruin the part?
5. When replacing the barrel and bushing, what is the desirable clearance between the two?
Thanks.

1. What is the advantage of a "match" or "competition" hammer?

Doesn't bite your hand, and often had better geometry for a cleaner break.

2. What is the advantage of a lightweight trigger?

Less mass-less resistance-better feel

3. There are many replacement barrels available, if you change the barrel, will the headspace need to be adjusted?

No

4. How can you tell if a slide or frame is still serviceable? I mean, does the slide moving back and forth cause enough wear to eventually ruin the part?

The frame rails never tend to wear out. They will crack first.

5. When replacing the barrel and bushing, what is the desirable clearance between the two?
Thanks.

At lock up, none. During cycling, as much as needed for 100% reliability.
