I have a para 1911 9mm frame that has the cutout for a ramped barrel and want to use for 45ACP. Is there an insert available to allow me to use a non ramped barrel? Something drop in or am I going to a gunsmith?
Wouldn't bother if we could still buy and sell handguns but working with what I have.
Cheers

I haven't heard of such a thing, though I am not deeply immersed in the world of 1911 customization.

I do know that the ramps come in 2 different styles, you will have to figure out which you have.

And, barrels with both ramp styles are still readily available from match barrel makers. You could just get one of those.

Nothing on a quality fit 1911 is drop in.

Just to remind you that you also must change the ejector, the 45ACP ejector os different from the 40/9mm ones. Easier to buy a ramped barrel, just check what ramp you have, a clark/para or a nowlin/wilson one.

To shoot 45 out of a 9mm 1911 you need a complete top end: barrel, slide, ejector, extractor. You can keep the firing pin and spring, but that's it. Given you're gun is ramped, stick with a ramped barrel. It's not that much money given what it's going to cost you for the rest of the top end.

If this was last year, I'd recommend not doing this and buying a complete 1911 in 45... but that ship has sailed.
