I have a Sig and a Kimber 1911, and was wondering where I could purchase recoil springs and repair kits? I see Brownells have them, but can't export from USA. Do you have to purchase brand specific springs, or are all 1911 commander size recoil springs the same? What weight of recoil spring is recommended?

Have you tried where you bought your guns if new?

You could try h ttp://www.gunsprings.com/Semi-Auto%20Pistols/cID1

you can buy 3rd party springs, no problem. you can buy direct from Wolff springs in the US. their site has lots of info and will guide you to what you are probably looking for. Freedom Ventures in Canada has a pretty good selection of springs as well. I'm sure there are many more places that i am not aware of.

You don't have to purchase specific brand springs. My favorite has been Wolff, Silver Fox gave you the website)

Wolf and others, including Brownells, can export.

All 1911 commander springs will work.

Wolff says on their website that 18 pounds is the stock weight for Commanders in .45
