My father is thinking of selling his Mod 1911 Colt Commander, .45cal(series 80). It comes with four magazines, hip holster, and a complete set of dies. It is in good shape and I don`t think he has shot it in 20 yrs.
He has no computer and has asked me to ask you guys what a fair price would be. I may post it in the EE later. He lives in northern B.C. to those interested. Thanks.

i just got mine for 800 shipped but it s a lightweight , and it s in near perfect condition !!! And it probably belonged to PRPROULX before LOL ...

Here's how I see it... Combat Comander [steel frame] is worth more/more desireable than the LW [light weight] Commander [aluminum frame]... Series 80 pistols worth less than Pre Series 80 pistols... all other things [condition, finish, original box & papers, accessories, etc] being equal. ;)

But, what do I know about it?:p

I prefer the light weight version. If I could have found a LW in 9mm I would have bought it.

Well, there's no question that a real deal Colt Commander, lightweight or otherwise, in 9mm is very desireable indeed...
