1911 Smiths - What is this part????

So I pulled apart a Colt Gold Cup National Match Series 80 I acquired recently and found this odd part. I am not a pro but I have seen enough 1911s apart and never recognized this - part of the series 80 pieces. Gun is back together and seems to work fine without it - so what is it?

My Series 70 Gold Cup had one of those things in it. I left mine out 30 odd years ago. It's a doodad that's supposed to improve the trigger action. It's not a "safety" thing. You're missing a very small coil spring that goes with it. It's not worth the trouble of reinstalling it. I even changed the hammer on my gun and did a little polishing and had a perfect trigger for some of the IPSC and paper punching i did with gun.

Yes, the spring was in the sear if i recall correctly. I guess its just a Gold Cup thing...

Depressor, or sear depressor.

If you're interested, this was discussed a while ago. Might be debatable as to whether the pieces are ok to just delete, I've heard differing opinions.
