Ok this a bit of a hard one to describe but ill try.

On my 1911 if i press the trigger before engaging the grip safety, then press the grip safety in i get a click.

Or if i press the grip safety then the trigger then release the grip safety it stays engaged until i release the trigger then the grip safety comes back out

I have not noticed this before because under normal circumstances the grip safety is pressed long before the trigger is touched.

I stripped the whole thing down and put her back together and all safety systems work properly. I can not drop the hammer with out both safetys disengaged.

I was just wondering if this is normal.

normal... yes... but the felt effect can be minimalized by a competent pistol smith. It is caused by a slight binding of the grip safety to trigger bar mating surfaces, which can be fine tuned. look for the wear spots on the right side rear of your trigger bar and on the front/bottom of the grip safety protrusion. you will see the spots of wear from the mating surfaces of each part. sometimes a very light stoning will smoothen out this binding.... do not use files or dremel tools , leave that to a pistol smith.
