Hello again.
My Norinco still has the ghastlyass grips it came with. They measure approx. .251" thick, which feels about right. I bought a set of ivory lookalikes. They measured thicker - something along the lines of .270. They made my sweet slim pistol feel like grabbing a 2X4. I've since dealt them off. I'm surprised that 2/10 of an inch made that much difference in feel, but there you go.
I have a deal cooking with a guy in the US to supply me with micarta grips that are .170 thick. Do these constitute "thinline" grips? I understand that thin grips require different grip bushings, and I've heard the Norinco bushings are a wonky size - larger than stock, and thus a bear to replace, with tapping, etc. involved. The sort of thing I'd like to leave to a professional.
So how thin can a grip be and still work with the stock Norinco bushings? And can the stock bushings be "narrowed" in situ to make thinner grips work?
Thanks,
Dan
