In order to insert a magazine I have to partially depress the mag release button. When removing falls part way out then I have to draw out. Is there a touchup trick to the mag release to resolve this? Norinco "Dominion Arms" 1911A1 Chrome.
Remove the slide from the frame. Insert a mag and see where it is getting held up. From your description, it sounds like the mag catch is the culprit.
If so and you're a handy person with a Dremel or file, remove the catch and file down the catch area in small amounts, test fitting along the way until you resolve the problem. You may need to remove material along the whole face of that catch area so try and keep it angled and don't square it off. I used a Dremel and a rubber polishing bit to remove material while polishing it at the same time.
If you remove too much material, you might find your mags dropping out while you are shooting. Whoops.
