I recently purchased from a CGN member a Norinco 1911A1 which has had several upgrades for competition. These include Ed Brown matched hammer & sear and trigger, all stainless, releasing at 3.5#. Again in stainless, Ed Brown slide safety; flat hammer and grip safety. The barrel bushing is a Micro match bushing, and the recoil spring has been replaced. Gun is equipped with Williams Firesights, and very nice burled wood stocks. Magazines are Wilson Combat 8 round stainless. Very nice piece.
The issue: The hammer/sear setup appears to have been modified so that the gun will fire when the slide safety is engaged. With the gun cocked and the slide safety in position, when the trigger is pulled the slide safety drops to disengagement and the hammer falls. Grip safety works perfectly and the issue does not occur if the grip safety is not squeezed in firing position.
I have not attempted to test the issue with live ammo at this point.
Can this be remedied? I suspect my Range Officer will be somewhat unimpressed with the setup as is and really would prefer a functioning safety.
PM to Publican or reply here - any suggestions gratefully received.
