i have a ross that was given to me. (it was sporterized before i got it) is there any good sites just for this rifle? where can i get a synthetic stock and other goodies? perfer within Kanada. Also what would be a good way to piant this a nice flat black? also( i know alot of questions) i have the weapons tech putting a new barrel on it that came with it( it was army issue still in the paper) would it be better to keep it long or shortin it? i am looking to do some good distance at the range maybe 300 and more. what other things could be done to this on a limited budget to make it a better range shooter? Thanks guys.

You have a new Ross barrel? DO NOT CUT IT. Make a post over on the milsurp board - someone may offer you a healthy sum for a new barrel.

You won't find any aftermarket stuff for a Ross. Just finding parts can be difficult.
"Weapons tech" as in a CF weapons tech? They have no experience with Ross rifles. Does he have the proper headspace guages?

I'm going to assume that your post is serious.
A Ross might have a stock date of 1914 on it, but there is no such thing as a 1914 model Ross.
There are no aftermarket parts or accessories for Ross rifles. Anything requires gunsmithing.
I have never heard of a new in the grease Ross barrel. This is an extremely rare item. Don't alter it or let anyone work on it unless they know what they are doing.
Paint the rifle flat black? You really are kidding, aren't you? Generally bubba gets a can of flat black BBQ paint at Canadian Tire.
Seriously, before you do anything, you should really find out exactly what you have.

An honest suggestion - do not touch that Ross. If you do, you could reduce the value of the parts to almost nothing. My best solution for you is to go onto the Milsurp forum, tell them all the details on the gun TAKE A LOT OF GOOD QUALITY PHOTOS and once again, give them all the details on it's stamping. You may find it is infinitely more worth your while to sell it and buy 2 or 3 new guns with the profits.

P.S. - mentioning cutting or otherwise massacring a ross in the milsurp forum may result in people hunting you down; you have been warned.

as said above, if you truely have a minty original Ross barrel, you may have a goldmine.
I suggest you get on a few milsurp forums and ask LOTS of questions. To my knowledge, an item like that is a real rarety, a collectors dream for certain, may even qualify as a museum piece.

Ok after looking in to milsurps alittle closer I realized there is a ross rifle and a p14 which is what i have. two different guns. the gun was given to my father when he was very young and its all cut up shortened and everything . the only thing that looks good is the action. It was his hunting rifle as he grew up. he got the barrel from a old guy ,when he was young ,that was a friend of his that was retired weapons tech and he had this barrel left from many years before. far as the story has been passed down it was military issue and has never been put on a gun. the guy i was going to get to do the work is also a retired weapons tech and says he has changed barrels on these guns before many years ago. I will get some pics of the barrel and post it in the mil surp forums. as for the rest i have hread how strong these actions are and would like to build something out of it.
ps. i remember most be 10 years ago now i was going to build something on this rifle and i had found a syn stock for a p14 i should have ordered it then becouse like you said i can't find them now.

Could be... as said - need pics and more info. At the moment it's like me asking what my car is worth, it has been built this century, goes forwards under its own power, has four wheels, and is metal.:p

lol its worth more to me to get it put on and make a good range/back up hunting rifle. so anyone know where i can get a stock for a P14?? or should i start makeing one, but i would rather synthetic.

Best use for a new in the grease P14 barrel would be for restoring a P 14. Can't remember the last time I heard of one being available. But if you want to use it on your range/back up hunting rifle, that's your business.

Dude - What makes you think the rifle needs a new barrel? Have you shot it? Had the bore inspected? Right now, the new barrel is worth more than the sported rifle. Here's some math:

Sported rifle = 100$
New Barrel = 150$

Sported Rifle with new barrel - 150$, minus gunsmithing to install...

cost me nothing to get the work done. the retired weapons tech is my best friends father. and the barrel on it now is very shot out. i have fired a few boxes throw it at differet ranges and they all go in the paper side ways. not to mention all over the place, but that could be me lol
