I've never, ever, seen a serviceable military M1917 barrel on the loose. Some replacements were made by Johnson during WW2 when the M1917 was used for training and was supplied to various allies. At one time Criterion was making M1917 barrels in military contours.
Criteron still makes barrels for the 1917, in 30-06 and 308. They're about $200 in the states. From what I've seen, a
lot of 1917 barrels need to be relieved near the reciever to be removed. That tends to ruin them.
Currently a Johnson Automatic is on my Eddystone. I found a excellent JA and probably have it installed shortly. Just got a PM from another forum memeber about a Winchester 18 barrel he wanted to offer me. They're out there.
Quite a few new replacement barrels were sold with the surplus rifles by the DCM after WW2.I expect that a number of them wound up in landfills without ever being used.
