1917 kar 98 please remove

Would anyone be able to point me in the direction for a full stock for one?
Haven't had any luck local and the only one's I could find were from Europe at ridiculous prices.

Yes sir I did.It's around $560 usd and not including duties. Was hoping to find something closer.

They're worth what they're asking for them.

I can get more than what they're asking for original stocks all beat up in a heartbeat.

Basically all original (not refinished and not post-wars) German stocks are going to be expensive. Especially Imperial era stocks. Not many left around.

I agree with bearhunter, that is what you are going to pay for a quality repro Kar 98 stock.

The other choice would be to contact Prestige Wood Stocks and see if they are interested in tooling up to make them. They already make repro Swede M96 Mauser stocks, so a Kar 98 isn't a crazy stretch.

I was trawling through the active auction listings for Switzers in L'Amable. They're not a sponsor so I won't post a link. Basically, they're moving 4-5,000 auction lots 4-5 times a year, and this auction has a few dozen M98s of many makes and conditions. You won't pay quarters on the dollar in their auctions, because they charge fees on buyers and sellers. But I've met the man who does their descriptions, and unless it is something very unusual, the descriptions are trustworthy.

I have a very nice "IMPERIAL" era 98 that was converted to 8.15x46R single shot, for offhand match shooting. The stock is all original as is the trigger guard and magwell, as per the regulations for the venue it was shot in. It's a great looking rifle and shoots very well with cast lead bullets in a setback, and rechambered military barrel.

I've been offered $1000 for it because the wannabe buyer wants the stock and metal to complete a rifle he has on hand, and wants all original bits.

It's not for sale; it shoots too well and I like it to much.

A K98 Forum member based in the US offered to trade an original Kar98A stock in 2022. He assessed that it was worth between 600 and 800 USD. They are indeed scarce and therefore expensive.
