Old Luger bought from an retired RCMP officer. Father gave it to him before he died. Is it worth anything?

All the numbers match on the gun. Just some surface rust, and was easily cleaned away. Son was told that the father obtained it from a Submarine. I guess that would have been in the first World War. There are no Nazi markings on it, so it looks like it escaped Hitler and WW2.

Yes, it will be going for sale, as soon as I figure out what I'm going to ask for it.

Although it's possible it was taken off a submarine, it is not a Navy Luger. It's a garden variety Erfurt P08 Luger. IMHO, in Canada, worth about $600 in its present state. If it were re-barelled to non-restricted, it would be worth closer to $1000.

Nice pistol none the less. Shame its a 12.6. I bet if it were just restricted here it would be worth quite a bit.

It's a very nice old pistol - totally untouched by anything post-1918. You might like to tell the guys on lugerforum.com [down there] about it - I'm certain that there will be some interest. Ron Wood collects nothing after 1918.
