Just thought I'd share. I'd always wanted a primo condition, unmolested, No.1 Mk.III from the WWI era. In a perfect world, it would have had Canadian possession stamps, but we can't always get what we want. In short, over my many years of buying, selling, shooting, collecting, restoring, and generally enjoying firearms and hunting, I've never seen one this lovely. It has a few interesting features like the "SALE PERMIT" and crown stamp on the knoxform and the fact that some of the proofs are barred out. I'm just assuming mind you, but I speculate from the condition that it was never issued but being made the year the war ended, it ended up released to the public by the English version of our Crown Assets Disposal. Sadly, it had a coat of varnish that I had to remove and restore back with linseed oil, but the bore is magnificent as is all the metal work. The stock has the divot where the volley sight dial would have been installed but never was as that feature had been dropped by the time this rifle was made. I've seen some lovely No.1's both restored and original but never one like this. So, for all you Enfield lovers, enjoy! BTW, comments or information are more than welcome.
