I cannot say what the that nice steel box is worth but will say to not "make it better" and leave as is.

The usual fate of these and the 25 pdr shell boxes in the Prairies was to end up as a toolbox on the tractor, swather or combine. That one is in NICE condition with most stencils/labels intact. Still a low demand item and not secure ammo storage without modification. Possibly of interest to owners of larger WW2 era milsurp vehicles?

I think I paid $25 for mine from an antique mall in Alabama about 10 years ago. They had about 20 of them.

I welded a pad lock hasp on mine and use it for ammo storage. Common as dirt.
