1941 Carcano deer hunting

Just found these pics from last year. I bagged a nice buck last year with a FAT 1941 Model Carcano.

For those who say the carcano is lacking, or unsuitable for deer hunting, I submit this.

Graf/Hornady 160 grain roundnose, recovered just under the hide, after passing through rib and shoulder blade

The 6.5x52 packs a good punch- on the deer and not the shooter!! It's one of the more enjoyable cartridges to shoot in my opinion.

I agree. The 6.5x52 is a very mild recoiling cartridge that is a pleasure to shoot and has more than enough power to get the job done on all sorts of game.

Surprised you found the bullet.Where you using .264 or .266 bullets ? Range? Harold

.268 bullets I believe. Range was about 50 yards. I was surprised I recovered it as well, but it caught a fair amount of bone and mushroomed substantially.

Sadly, I sold the rifle to a fellow from Alberta. Still have an older 1891 long rifle and a 1891 carbine, both in mid restore.

Will have to pick up a new 41 though. I enjoyed it.

Well nice to see , I plan to use a carcano in the future , I had heard the .268 diameter hornady bullets had a heavy jacket and don,t expand , nice to see evidence to the contrary
