1941 Long Branch Forend

wow that's a pretty tall order. I doubt there are any out there that are not on rifles. I would tend to agree with Bearhunter here, although Canada never used FTR marks, so unless it was done in Europe it won't have them. First as you are saying Long Branch '41 is it still in mk1 configuration? I would suggest the first think to look to to see if it was refurbed was it upgraded to mk1* and/or does it still have the round cocking piece? If either of those were done, it was more than likely FTR'd and a mk1* fore end would be correct.

Of course Long Branch and CA weren't really as particular as the Brit factories when it came to rebuilds, and there are NO absolutes. I have a matching factory '43 mk1* with original 5 groove bbl that still has most of the mk1 parts, and I took it out of the packing grease.

Enfield is a 1941 No4 MK1. The forend has been destroyed by "Bubba" and needs replacement. I realize this is a rare rifle with approximately 15000 being produced. Thought I might get a suggestion or two from Folks here.

further to rgg's comments, the rifle is a 1941 Long Branch No.4 Mk.1 that appears to have been sent to England before being sold out of service, and it has not undergone any arsenal refurbishments. The bolt, unfortunately, looks to be a force match, but has the early button-style cocking piece and has the hole in the bolt handle knob - I think it was replaced early early in the life of the rifle, but who knows? The rifle is in the US. Photos are at:

Rgg is looknig for parts for me for this rifle, so I will not tread on his toes here, and if anyone does know of the whereabouts of a correct forend, they should contact him, not me.

I ended up selling the 1941 Long Branch to someone who would probably do a better job of restoring it, but I am now on the trail of another 1941 Long Branch. If I do manage to get it, I will post pics :)
