I can't tell if that's real or a forced "sniper" with a stubby mag.

It's a mix. Low serial and factory marking I believe indicates an early sniper model.. Scope isnt a repro and correct for svt40.. But then mount is post war or reproduction. The mag isn't original at all and has been cut by somebody at some point. *shrug emoji* lol

I noticed they mentioned it. However, this particular serial prefix is of special interest, it would be nice to see whatever notch is there and also right side of the receiver where '41 snipers had "C".

I bet they didn't know to look for the C

here is the notch. I think I saw this rifle in the past but can't remember from who lol

Actually it could be a field notch but how can we know for sure ? We know they exists but we don't have any official documentations so selling one as ''field notch'' I'm not sure we can do that without proper info lol
Waiting Horilka and Ratnik's inputs.

To verify for everyone the notch was not done at the factory, hence why it's called a field notch, it was done in the field and not at the factory. This is also why it doesn't have a c stamped on the side. Please read the description before putting up the obvious. Have a great day. Thank you for all the help that has been private messaged to me, we very much appreciate it. The more we learn about these guns the more we learn about history (invaluable). We will consider all the offers we received and will make a decision soon in the new year as to whom it will be sold to (full price has yet to be offered). Have a great new year everyone and continue sending info via PM, as we can always learn more.
