Well, after my post yesterday did not get any real traction, I thought what the heck and bought it anyway. This morning I picked it up and cleaned it up and here are pics, my thoughts on it as well. Welcoming any other input on it. Whole album here http://imgur.com/a/boB3x

So according to 7.62X54.net, this rifle is a Finnish capture Soviet Rifle. Not sure if it is super rare, but an interesting piece that was probably a pick up from the continuation war. The only serial number that is present on the gun (aside from the barrel) is the bolt, which has been force matched. The mag floor plate and stock both have no numbers.

It has:

A SA 1942 Soviet Round High Wall Receiver with the escutcheon plate with round hole and hangers and a Finnish "potbelly" stock that has round joiners, so it is a wartime stock. The stock has a cartouche with a S and two crossed cannons, meaning that it was made by Sakara, a sub-contractor of VKT.

The trigger is a two stage Finnish trigger, the cleaning rod is Finnish. The majority of the markings on this rifle are the old Izhevsk pre soviet markings. So the arrow and bow are found on many spots. The cocking piece of the bolt has the old Tula hammer as well.

Now on the trigger guard, there is a long arrow with many visible fetching that I do not recognize.

The bore is counter-bored but the rest of the barrel looks brand new. Maybe only dropped once!

Now on the side of the receiver is an interesting mark that I do not know much about. It looks like to me that it is two small SS that are very close to each other. No idea what this is, or if it means anything at all. Any ideas?

So please see the album link at the top, many more pictures. The gun was still covered in Finnish grease until I got it. Who knows when the last time it was fired. I'm very happy with it and feel like it will be a great shooter. Any input on what to value it at would be nice as well. But now my dilemma is that I feel the need to sell another gun since I bought this one!

Its not super rare but not often seen either. Most Finn 91/30 have much earlier dates due to the soviets using their older equipment on the Finnish front. I would say its worth $150-250.

I say look past the monetary value and enjoy this rifle simply as a part of your personal collection.

Oh it will be. I am majorly downsizing my collection. So I am keeping things basic, sold a lot of my red rifles. I have a really nice 54 Iz SKS and now this Fin Mosin to keep as my Russian collection (add in a TT33 for good measure). The SVT-40, other two mosins and my M38 are all going/gone. Since this is a very nice example, and has a interesting history, compared to the average mosin, I will for sure appreciate it!

I as only asking for a value since I don't think I have ever seen one like this before so I didn't know what it was really "worth".
