Looking for some help with the value on this one.

I'm not very knowledgeable on Lithgow SMLE's and thought I would ask the experts.

This example is in very good+ condition with a repaired crack in the stock, otherwise a couple of minor blemishes on the wood. All metal is in excellent condition with a nice mirror bore. Bolt and bayonet are not matching. All other visible bits are marked OA or BA and without serial numbers.

Many thanks for any assist - cheers.

The non-matching bolt is common with Lithgow FTR's. I bought a very similar rifle a few months ago for $1000 - this was a very good deal locally, I'd say probably $1200 is more normal here, assuming everything else matches (wood and metal bits)

Personally, I would say it can't be described as VG+ condition with a mismatched bolt. Plenty of matching Lithgows around. For a value it would be necessary to know if the barrel is original and if all minor parts appear to be correct period Lithgow. Not being specifically an expert on Lithgow I wonder if, for 1942, the forend, rear sight, and nosecap should have matching numbers? My suspicion is that $1000 is on the high end for this rifle.

The bayo and sling are probably around $175-200 and the rifle about $800, so $1000 for the combo is about right for a starting price. You can always go down if nobody buys at that price....
